Who We Are

Firmly modern, underpinned by waves of nostalgia. Sonny Eastman Photography is the visual collaboration of Elizabeth and James, San Francisco-Bay Area film photographers specializing in environmental portraiture and weddings.

For us, creating meaningful imagery is less about being a distant observer and more about connecting with people and feeling those moments alongside them. We believe that understanding this gives us the ability to embrace our role as both participants and facilitators.

We’re here to support and highlight your individual personalities and your shared energy. We photograph weddings, portraits, and our own personal work the same way: we look for what's un-posed. Gentle rhythms. A swaying hand finding another hand. The brief pause before someone speaks.

We don't work from a shot list. We stay close, we wait, and we step in with light direction only when it helps. Shooting mostly on film keeps things a little raw and unpredictable, which is part of the point. We’ll always make time for a few classic portraits, but the day isn't built around them.
